EDM Creatives

Emails People Want To Open Every Time

Your EDM is competing with dozens of others in the same inbox. Most get deleted in under three seconds. The ones that survive have two things working together: copy that earns attention, and design that makes reading effortless. This workshop develops both.

The Problem

Your EDMs Are Being Ignored.

The Subject Line Loses Before the Open

Generic headlines and weak subject lines mean your EDM never gets read. The best content in the world is worthless if it sits unopened in an inbox.

Copy That Features, Not Persuades

Listing information is not the same as communicating value. When EDMs focus on what rather than why it matters, readers disengage before reaching the call to action.

Design That Works Against the Message

Text-heavy, cluttered layouts and inconsistent branding undermine trust before a single word is read. Visual presentation determines whether your EDM gets attention or gets deleted.

Calls to Action That Don't Convert

Weak CTAs produce weak results. When readers don't know what to do next — or don't feel compelled to do it — click-through and registration rates stay low.

Starting from Zero Every Time

Without a repeatable process, every EDM is built from scratch. Writing takes too long. Design decisions are guesswork. Deadlines get missed.

No Confidence in Design Decisions

Most communicators are trained to write — not to design. Without a framework for visual decisions, every layout feels uncertain and every revision adds risk.

The consequence is not just low open rates.

When EDMs underperform, events go under-attended, campaigns miss their targets, and teams question whether the channel is worth the effort. The problem is rarely the audience — it is the EDM itself.

This two-day workshop teaches both the copywriting and the design — so every EDM you produce works harder from the first line to the last pixel.

Why This Course

High-performing EDMs need both compelling message and good design

Your reader does not experience your copy first and your design second. They experience both simultaneously. EDM Creatives is built on that reality — developing writing and design as one integrated skill set, not two separate courses that leave you to figure out the integration on your own.

Participants work on real EDMs and newsletters across both days. You leave with copy and design assets ready for immediate workplace use — and a repeatable process you can apply to every EDM you create from that point forward.

  • 01Writing and design together — the only workshop that develops both skill sets in two integrated days.
  • 02Real workplace materials — you work on actual EDMs and newsletters throughout, not hypothetical examples.
  • 03Two specialist practitioners — a communications writer and a creative director, each leading their domain.
  • 04Assets you take home — copy and design work created during the workshop is ready for deployment.

Who Should Attend

Anyone responsible for creating EDMs, newsletters or promotional communications

For Singapore government officers and corporate professionals who produce or manage email communications. No design background required — if you write or coordinate EDMs at work, this workshop is for you.

Why This Workshop Is Different

Write and design — not one or the other.

Most EDM programmes focus on writing or design in isolation, leaving you to figure out how to bring them together on your own. This workshop builds both skill sets across two integrated days.

Both skills in one workshop
The only programme that teaches EDM copywriting and design together — because your audience experiences both simultaneously.
Real EDMs, not simulations
Participants work on actual workplace EDMs and newsletters throughout the workshop. The output is ready for use, not for the filing cabinet.
Two specialist practitioners
A communications writer leads Day 1. A creative director leads Day 2. You receive specialist expertise in both disciplines — not a generalist covering both.
Government-relevant case studies
Examples and exercises draw from Singapore government and corporate contexts — so what you learn applies directly to the EDMs your agency produces.
A repeatable process, not a one-off day
You leave with a structured approach for every EDM you write and design — from planning and copywriting through to layout and review.
Personalised feedback on your work
Both trainers provide direct feedback on your writing and design — not generic commentary on group exercises.

Common Questions

No design background is required. Day 2 teaches design principles and layout techniques from first principles — suitable for participants who have never formally studied design. What you need is a laptop and a willingness to apply what you learn to real EDMs.
Yes, and we strongly encourage it. Bringing your own EDMs, newsletters, and workplace examples means you can apply the workshop content directly to material that matters to your organisation. Participants who bring their own work consistently get the most out of the sessions.
Day 2 focuses on design principles and wireframing that apply across tools — not on mastering specific software. Participants work with common tools available to them. Please bring your own laptop with your regular design or communication tools installed.
